This thesis focuses on improving the lifetime by using the clustering technique and examining centralized and decentralized cluster head selection algorithms. The optimum number of clusters that maximize the lifetime is obtained and the relation between clusters is investigated. The simulation results prove that the independency of cluster heads selection decision (asynchronous CH rotation) improves the lifetime
