Thesis (M.A.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Arts - Department of English
The present study points out a strong concern with oppression and injustice as the predominant feature of the theatre of david edgar . It examines the different oppression - racked contexts portrayed in his plays : our own people 1977 teendreams 1979 and entertaining strangers 1985 . Targeting the relationship beteen power and knowledge the study examines the negative sterotuped knowledge in terms which the identity of the powerless and disprivileged within these varoious stereotyped social contexts and power relationships is constructed as irrevocably different from and other' than that of those in power
