It is the common insertion of calf muscles. Rupture occurs if it is stressed beyond 4% of its length. Diagnosis is mainly clinical. Treatment can be classified into conventional, recent trends and experimental therapies. Conventional may be conservative using a cast or open surgical repair. Recent trends may be conservative with functional brace, percutaneous repair, or mini open repair using "Achillon" device. Outcome is generally good
