Hallux valgus is one of the most common foot disorders in civilized populations. The elements of the deformity are lateral deviation and rotation of the hallux, prominence of the medial side of the head of the first metatarsus (bunion). Recently the ability for surgical repair of the various soft tissue and osseous abnormalities in hallux valgus has improved significantly which allows the surgeon to address even the severest deformities and minimize post-operative care and complications
