It is important to conclude that cefotaxime effectiveness in treating spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in our Egyptian patients has been decrased as failure rate was more than 60% and the osolated organisms were mostly sensitive to amikacin invitro . Aim of the work Evaluation of the resistance of microorganisms to cefotaxime in treating spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in cirrhotic patients with ascites.
