Alpinia zerumbet ( Pers . ) B. L. is an ornamental aromatic plant . The preliminary phytochemical screening of the leaves and the rhizomes revealed the presence of essential oils , carbohydrates , glycosides , sterols , flavonoids and triterpenes . The fresh leaves and rhizomes of alpinia zerumbet ( Pers . ) were subjected to hydrodistillation
