Avian influenza has socio - economic importance all over the world . So In the present study comparsion of cell line and embryonated chicken egg (ECE) for the isolation of H5N1 viruses from field samples were carried out . Pools of samples collected from clinically suspected 300 birds from different poultry species (chicken , duck , geese and turkey) reared in Egyptian backyards at 2008 - 2009
