Hepatic encephalopathy is a common complication that affects 28% of patients with liver cirrhosis . The most important theory that explains the development of hepatic encephalopathy is the hyperammonemia theory . The present study was conducted to clarify and compare the prophylactic as well as the therapeutic effects of hibiscus sabdariffa against thioacetamide induced hepatic encephalopathy in Guinea pigs
