Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Summary: We have investigated the possible anticonvulsive potential of three dose levels of three drugs namely, levetiracetam (150, 300, and 500 mg/kg; i.p) dexamethasone (5, 10, and 20 mg/kg; i.p), and nimesulide (20, 50, and 100 mg/kg; i.p) in lithium-pilocarpine-induced convulsions model in rats. This was accompanied by a significam disruption of normal oxidamt/antioxidam balance as evidencedby decreased hippocampal reduced glutathione with increasedlipid peroxidation and nitric oxide production as well as neutrophils infiltration in the hippocampus
