Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: The activated sludge process is the most biological processes accepted and widely used in Egypt and it depending on using the bacteria to convert the suspended solids that do not precipitate and dissolved organic matter in waste water to a material that can be settled and removed from the sedimentation tank therefore the thesis aimed to examine the possibility of using effective micro - organisms ( EM ) added in various concentrations to improve the quality of treated water and without using primary sedimentation tank and then determine the best concentration of ( EM ) and the compatibility of treated water with the environmental laws and the thesis consists of several sections which are the following
