Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Nuclear Medicine
The current thesis revealed better overall sensitivity , specificity and accuracy for FDG PET over CT . Compared with CT that was used as part of the staging procedures in this study , PET detected 50 additional lesions (32 nodal , 18 extra - nodal) of the discordant findings , that were false negative by CT , but they were verified as true positive by PET . Of these lesions , 24 % were clinically relevant and led to an upstaging in 12 (13 %) of 91 patients
