A preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of carbohydrates , flavonoids , tannins , proteins and / or amino acids are present in all the three algae under investigation . ( Sarconemafiliforme , Hormophysatriquetra and Sargassumsubrepandum ) . The highest content of the phenols , total carotenoids and -ß Carotene , protein , essential and non - essential amiino acids was found in the Sarconemafiliforme , also it apperared to show lower PH than the others
