AmpC enzyme is a Ý - lactamase enzyme that can hydrolyze all Ý - lactam antibiotics expcept cefipime and carbapenem and is not inhibited by clavulanic acid . In gram negative bacteria , this enzyme is chromosomally mediated in most isolates and less commonly plasmid mediated in only few isolates . There is no standard phenotypic method for detection of such enzyme
