Splanchnic vasodilatation is the main pathology . Vasoconstrictors are used as treatment aiming at reversal of renal dysfunction . Thirty patients with hepatorenal syndrome were randomized into three groups each receiving albumin , dopamine (nephrogenic dose) and vasoconstrictor (norepinephrine , midodrine or octreotide)
