Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Geology
The upper Cretaceous - Lower Palaeocene black shales of Egypt are part of a giant worldwide belt of organic - rich shales and hosted mainly in the Duwi and Dakhla formations in ascending order . Five main lithofacies are encountered in Abu Tartur section (OSN) and nine in Alquseir section (OSR) . It is worth to mention that organic matter dilutes the REE budget and lowers the chondrite - normalized pattern of the organic - rich sediments relative to their corresponding organic - poor
