It studies the evolution of portfolio flows to emerging markets over the period 1980 - 2011 with emphasis on the case of India , Brazil , Turkey and Egypt and presents the empirical findings for a sample of emerging economies . The empirical analysis uses panel data methods and shows that domestic pull factors have a greater effect than global push factors on portfolio flows
