Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mechanical Design and Production Summary: Hypereutectic aluminium - silicon cast alloy (A390) was used as the matrix and the reinforcing particles were alumina and titanium dioxide both are in the nano - scale with size ranges from 40-50 nm . The nano - particles with different weight fractions and mixture were stirred in the matrix in both semi - solid and liquid states . The result support the idea that the introduction of nano- particles induces a refining role to the microstructural features
