Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Agriculture - Department of Agricultural Biochemistry Summary: Pesticide residues were determined in a total of 168 samples, which represent 7 medicinal plants (anise, basil, chamomile, cumin, marjoram, pepermint and thyme) collected from local markets in Cairo and Elminia governorates. Eighty four samples from Cairo markets were analyzed for pesticide residues, 19 non contaminated samples were recorded (22.7%) while, contaminated samples were 65 samples were (77.3%) also % violation samples were 80 and 96.9% in medicinal plants and their distilled oils respectively
