Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Pathology Summary: A renewed interest in liver cell isolation and culture techniques has been generated by advancements in gene engineering, gene therapy, hepatocyte transplantation and by the development of bio-artificial liver support systems (BAL) for the treatment of acute liver failure. This work was designed to develop a highly efficient protocol for isolation technique of hepatocytes in the experimental wistar rat model to reach high vitality standard and to study their vaibility in suspension in relation to their morphology at the ultrastructural level
