The emergence and rapid dissemination of carbapenemase-producing carbapenem resistant enterobacteriaceae (CRE) worldwide is a cause for concern. Resistance to carbapenems has increased dramatically among enterobacteriaceae. Outbreaks of CRE, primarily klebsiella pneumoniae, have been reported recently in several regions worlwide
