Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics Summary: Cardiac troponin - I levels were measured and correlated with intra - and postoperative parameters of thirty one children undergoing correction of congenital heart disease . Results: Showed a highly significant correlation between the need for inotropic support and mortality in relation to the serum levels of cTnI . Conclusion: Cardiac troponin I could be used as a marker of postoperative myocardial injury caused by operative trauma
