Cervical disc prosthesis theoretically fights adjacent level disease by regaining the physiologic ranges of motions at the adjacent levels thus it prevents hypermobility at the adjacent levels, preserves adjacent disc heights, and maintains adjacent level intradiscal pressure. Ideal treatment for cervical degenerative disc disease must deal with and improve its three components-axial neek pain, radiculopathy, and myelopathy
