Heart failure is the main cause of death in Ý thalassemia major patients , which is mainly attributed to iron overload through the formation of oxygen free radicals . Apolipoprotein epsilon 4 (ApoE4) allele has the least antioxidant activity compared to ApoE3 alleles . This study was designed to determine whether the ApoE4 allele could represent a genetic rick factor for the development of left ventricular failure in Ý thalassemia major
