Treatment of the seedlings of (Vicia faba L.), a model legume for molecular genetic studies , with biotic elicitor (Fusarium solani culture filtrate) resulted in the accumulation of an isoflavonoid phytoalexin , daidzein and genestien . Using PCR strategies , PCR strategies , PAL - cDNAs were obtained from elicited seedling root. The transcription levels of phenylalanine ammonia -lyase (PAL) , which is involved in isoflavonoid biosynthesis , coordinately increased upon elicitation
