Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Neuropsy Chiatry Summary: The aim of the work is to study the prevalence , severity , demographic variables of social anxiety disorder in a convenience sample of Egyptian university students and its impact on their academic achievement . 300 undergraduate University students were assessed to detect social anxiety and quantify its severity using the standardized measure of Present State Examination , Symptom checklist prepared from DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria for anxiety disorders , Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS) and Raulin and Wee Social Fear Scale (R&W)
