Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Dermatology and Venerology Summary: The role of dietary factors in pathophsiology of acne is highly controversal , A potential role for various growth factors such as insulin - like growth factor - 1 (IGF-1) has been suggested in the pathogenesis of acne . Hence , the aim of this study was to measure the serum levels of IGF-1 and insulin and estimate insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) , dietary glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL) in acne patients in comparison to normal controls and evaluate the relationship of these levels to severity of acne , in order to investigate the role of these factors in the pathogenesis of acne
