Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics Summary: Background and aim : Minimal hepatic encephalpathy (MHE) is characterized by subtle motor and cognitive deficits . We evaluated the role of number connection test - A (NCT-A) to diagnose MHE in patients with compensated liver cirrhosis and EHPVO. Results : Using constant upper limit for NCT-A 11 (55%) out of 20 ptients with EHPVO and 6 (30%) out of 20 patients with liver cirrhosis had a pathological results of NCT-A without clinical evidence of hepatic encephalopathy (MHE)
