Iron deficiency is believed to be the most common cause of anemia in pregnancy. According to present data, it can be concluded that a mean of hemoglobin level of pregnant females attending Elkasr Alaini obstetric emergency ward at time of delivery was 9.3 gm/d1, females with severe anemia were (13.0%), moderate anemia were (34.0%) and mild anemia were 53.0%
