Screening the mycofloral taxa in soil polluted by tannery water resulted in 1564 fungal isolates constituting 17 species . Aspergillus niger and spicaria silvatica were found to be highly resistant to Cr⁺⁶ and achieved MIC and IC₅₀ of 3000 ægm1⁻¹ and 500 ægm1⁻¹ respectively .
