Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Forensic Medicine-Toxicology Summary: Formaldehyde (FA) is a chemical, traditionally used in pathology and anatomy laboratories as a tissue preservative. Many studies clearly indicated that FA can induce genotoxic effects in peripheral lymphocytes and is classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as carcinogenic in humans and experimental animals. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possible health effects of formaldehyde among medical personnels in the histopathology laboratory by evaluating its genotoxic and precarcinogenic effects
