Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Agriculture - Department of Soil Science Summary: In this research, Wadi Elfarigh area western desert was selected as a case study site, which considers one of the high priority regions for future agriculture development in Egypt. The mapping units were represented by eight physiographic units of high decantation basin, low decantation basin, high aeolian terrace, and low aeolian terrace, high over flow basin, low over flow basin, high sand sheet, and low sand sheet. 16 soil profiles represented the physiographic map units, were dug and descripted. Soils of studied area were classified as (Entisols - Aridsols). Land use suitability evaluation tool (LUSET) was used to classify the soils suitability of the mapping units ranged between high
