Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - National Cancer Institute - Department of Oncology Surgical Summary: The purpose of this study is to describe the patterns and predictors of recurrence in well differentiated thyroid carcinoma patients in the Egyptian national cancer institute. The demographic and clinicopathological data of 169 patients (in the period from January 2006 to December 2010) were retrieved from patient{u2019}s files and statistically analyzed. We found that vascular invasion was a significant risk factor in addition to the well established poor prognostic factors, and from this study we stress upon the importance of adopting evidence based guidelines for treatment to achieve the best prognosis of thyroid cancer
