Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics Summary: Background /Aim: Histopathological examination for liver biopsy combined with clinical data can suggest a cause in most cases of liver diseases. Our aim from this work is to study the indications and spectrum of histopathological findings in liver biopsies obtained from Egyptian infants and children with liver diseases. Conclusion: The commonest clinical presentation and indication of liver biopsy in Egyptian children with liver diseases was cholestasis and hepatomegaly and the commonest diagnosis was neonatal hepatitis, biliary atresia and chronic hepatitis
