Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Summary: This study was conducted to augment the atrophied posterior mandibular alveolar ridge resulting from teeth loss. This was achieved through composite bone graft of autogenous and artificial bone graft. As a primary preparatory phase soft tissue expanders were used in order to create established tunnel ready to receive the added vertical dimension of the grafting procedures with minimal tension. This study showed that drawbacks of tunneling technique for vertical ridge augmentation can be overcome in order to make use of its simplicity and safety
