Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Economics and Political Science - Department of Social Science Computing Summary: Castells theory of the Network society is taken as a conceptual framework that provides an integrated sociological framework through which the key dynamics constituting all domains of life in the information age are to be revisited and examined. The theory does so by refocusing the analysis away from places and structures to flows and networks. This conceptual framework points to the continuous interdefinition of self-conscious and creative actors, constituting three irreducible, yet highly interdependent, sources of dynamism: namely, the capitalist economy, politics, and culture
