Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - National Institute of Laser Enhanced Science - Department of Laser Applications in Environmental Metrology Photochemistry and Agriculture Summary: This dissertation was set to evaluate the {uFB01}ber laser, as a source of light in the {uFB01}eld of (LIBS). The study began with the diagnostics of the fiber laser-induced plasma parameters such as temperature, electron number density and temporal behavior of the emission lines for laser pulse duration ranging from 40 to 200 ns. Subsequently, by using the same pulse duration range, the evaluation of the analytical performances of this laser source was also carried out. Finally, the effect of the corresponding pulse duration range on the ablation behavior was studied through the determination the fluence thresholds for some pure metals having different thermophysical properties detection, fluence threshold
