Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: This strain gauge stress analysis study was performed to compare the stresses transmitted to terminal abutments in kennedy class I partial dentures when retained by an extra-coronal resilient attachment and a rigid intra-coronal attachment combined with resilient versacryl layer the other time. This study was conducted on a mandibular acrylic model modified into Kennedy class I. It was performed in two major stages with two different attachments, one OT cap monobox attachment, termed S1, and the other DSF - Diamon intra-coronal attachment combined with versacryl resilient layer, termed S2. The partial denture was constructed with acrylic resin teeth. Four strain gauges were bonded to the distal and buccal surfaces of the terminal abutments. A metal bar was attached to the denture, extending from the first molar of one side to that of the other side of the arch
