Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Clinical and Chemical Pathology
Ovarian cancer is the third most common cancer of the female genital tract and the leading cause of cancer death associated with gynecologic tumors. MicroRNAs regulate at least 60% of human genes, including tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes and, thereby, can affect cancer risk. This study aims to investigate the potential association between miR - 146a (rs2910164) polymorphism and ovarian cancer risk in a group of Egyptian patients and whether there is an association between this polymorphism and some clinico-pathological parameters in the patients. Fifty newly diagnosed ovarian cancer cases, fifteen benign ovarian cases and 35 healthy control females were recruited in this study. MiR - 146a (rs2910164) polymorphism was detected by TaqMan - Real time PCR assay
