Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Ophthalmology Summary: Retinal involvement is the most common ocular manifestation of SLE after keratoconjunctivitis sicca. Even with the appearance of normal fundus by routine examination, FFA showed peripheral leakage, capillary drop out, neovasculrization and disc vasculitis. Eye manifestations in SLE can be an indicator of active systemic disease or as a complication of treatment as cataract in steroids intake or maculapathy with antimalarial drugs. SLE retinopathy occurs independently on hypertension or disease duration
