High molecular weight polyurethanes have been prepared by a one chain extension reaction performed on P [(R) - HB] - diol, as hard segments, and P [(R,S) - HB] - diol, as well as PCL {u2013}PEG - PCL - diol, as soft segments, and Ü- Chitin whiskers (ChWs) as reinforcing nanofiller, using 1,6 - hexamethylene diisocyanate, as non - toxic connecting agent, series A and B, respectively. The molecular characterization by FTIR and 1H - NMR spectroscopy, the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution by GPC and the main thermal properties by DSC and TG of all synthesized materials are reported. The thermal properties and non - isothermal crystallization behavior of PU sample containing 40 wt.% P [(R) - HB] with and without Ü- Chitin whiskers were studied using TG and DSC, and their kinetics data were investigated via the avrami, Ozawa, and Z. S. Mo methods, respectively. Crystallization activation energy was estimated using kissinger{u2019}s method
