Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Institute of African Research and Studies - Department of Natural Resoures
This work was undertaken to find out the beneficial effect of individual biofertilization treatments (azotobacter sp, azospirillum sp, bacillus megatherium and mycorrhiza sp) and / or chemical fertilizer on the vegetative growth parameters and some chemical and biochemical characteristics of four date palm plantlets cultivars (khalas, khadrawy, sokkari and barhi) grown under greenhouse conditions. On the basis of the aforementioned results, one can work out the general trend for all treatments of the studied cultivars as follows: Among cultivars, barhi respond to most, if not all, treatments regardless of growth periods. Barhi recorded the highest response of stem thickness, number of leaves, number of roots, root length, plant phosphorus content, plant iron and zinc contents. Khalas recorded the highest response of plant height, total carbohydrates, plant indole content, plant nitrogen and copper contents
