Dissertation note: Thesis (M.A.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Arts - Department of English Summary: This thesis provides an analysis of securities recommendation reports (SRRs) on the rhetorical, lexical and syntactic levels. On the rhetorical level, a common pattern of the moves shaping the organizational structure of SRRs has been inferred in adaptation to swales{u2019} (1990) move - analysis model, known as CARS (create a research space). SRRs are found to have three obligatory macro - moves: Preamble, Review and analysis of the company performance and appendix, each underlying primary and secondary moves. On the lexical level, WordSmith Tools 5.0 (Scott, 2009a), a text analysis suite, has been employed to identify the keywords specific to the genre of SRRs and then to analyze them through drawing a comparison between them and the top 100 keywords of Nelson{u2019}s (2000a) business English corpus (BEC) in terms of grammatical categorization, technical and semi-technical lexi
