Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Summary: Cannabis sativa is a plant family with an unique composition: about 400 - 500 compounds have been detected exclusively in these plants. Among them are approximately 70 - 80 terpenophenol compounds, which have collectively been named phytocannabinoids. Its main active component is x9 - tetrahydrocannabinol (x9 - THC). Two cannabinoid receptors that respond to x9 - tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). These receptors called CB1 and CB2. The effect on gastric damage is not known. To investigate the effects of cannabis sativa extract on gastric mucosal damage after induction by acidified aspirin or ethanol in pylorus - ligated rats. Cannabis extract was administered s.c. at three doses (5, 10, 20 mg /kg) for one month before the studies on gastric mucosal damage. Pylorus ligation was performed under ether anesthesia and either acidified aspirin (200 mg / kg) or ethanol (1 ml) were given orally
