Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of hydrofluoric acid and laser surface treatment on the surface alteration and shear bond strength of Lithium Disilicate with adhesive Resin cements. Materials and Methods: A total number of 40 discs were milled from 20 IPS e-max CAD blocks. The discs were divided according to the surface treatment into 2 groups ( 20 disc each): Group A ( n=20) received hydrofluoric acid surface treatment < 5% (control group) Group B ( n=20) received carbon dioxide laser surface treatment Each group was further subdivided into two subgroups according to the adhesive system used to cement each pair of discs together Subgroup A ( n= 10) :cementation with total etch adhesive system Subgroup B ( n= 10 ) : cementation with self adhesive system SLM was used to calculate an average of surface roughness (Ra) of the average height of every specimen, expressed in om, which can be assumed as reliable indices of surface roughness cementation was accomplished according to the manufacturer{u2019}s recommendations using total etch and self- adhesive systems shear bond strength was measured. All data were recorded, evaluated and statistically analyzed
