The current study aims to explore and compare the effects of a commonly used medicinal herb; Melissa officinalis (lemon balm), family lamiaceae / labiatae, and/or an anti-obesity drug; sibutramine (monoamines reuptake inhibitor) on the total content of monoamines [norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA), serotonin (5- HT)] in different brain areas (cerebellum, pons + medulla, striatum, cortex, hypothalamus, mid - brain, hippocampus) of the adult male albino rats. Also, the effect of Melissa and / or sibutramine on lipid profile [total lipid, total cholesterol, low density lipoproteins (LDL), high density lipoproteins (HDL), triglycerides], liver functions [alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP)], kidney functions [creatinine, urea] and body weight were investigated
