Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Astronomy and Meteorology
Iraq is one of the sensitive regions to climate variation particularly to rainfall and temperature changes in the World. This thesis aims to show the reality of the climatic change in Iraq and mainly directed to get better understanding and comprehensive knowledge regarding the evolution of temperature and rainfall characteristics over Iraq. Complete and homogenous time series of mean minimum (Tmin {u00BA}C), mean maximum (Tmax {u00BA}C), mean temperature (T {u00BA}C), mean temperature range (Tr {u00BA}C) and rainfall (Rt mm) for different eleven sites over Iraq have been used in this study during the period (1972 - 1991), (1992 - 2011) and (1972 - 2011). RH test software package used as a reference set of homogenous time series well correlated with a base series. Also, Sen,s non-parametric estimator of slope has been frequently used to estimate the magnitude of trend, whose statistical significance was assessed by the mann kendall test
