Sand dune movement toward Aswan High Dam and deposited in the bottom of the lake is considered one of the main reasons that lead to reduce the storage capacity of Aswan High Dam. The aim of the present study is to elucidate the sand dune types, their morphology, distribution and movement. Topography plays an important role in determining the type, pattern and distribution of aeolian deposits in the study area, therefore a variety of sand dune types appear in study area according to the topographic features of each area. Sand sheets are located at the northern portion of lake Nasser area (Kalabsha, Garf Hussein and Khor Elraml), lee dunes are located mainly in Wadi Elarab, Amada and AbuSimbel. Barchan dunes belt in the southern portion of study area (Adindan). The dominant wind direction in the study area is N, NNW and NNW
