Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Agriculture - Department of Soil Science Summary: The impact of organic management practices versus conventional management was studied on selected farms from west and east the of the delta. In west delta mafa organic farm and Maghrabi conventional farm were selected. In east delta adlia organic farm and Mansour private conventional farm were selected. The study included the effect of the type of management on the soil quality parameters, the nutritional status of the different plants and the quality of the crops. The results indicated that organic management significantly increased the level of organic matter in the soil by 2 - 3 folds, the CEC by 60% and soil respiration rate of the soil by 50% over that of the conventional farming. The level of available P in the organically managed soils was equal to or slightly higher than that of the conventionally managed ones. No significant difference in available K content between organic and conventionally managed soils was found
