Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Nursing - Department of Community Health Nursing Summary: The Food safety is a major public health problem. The study aimed to assess knowledge, attitude among household women regarding food safety, Observe food safety practices and investigate the relationship between personal, socio economic state of household women and food safety related knowledge, attitude and practices. Design a descriptive analytical design was utilized. The study was conducted at AboBakr Alsedeek village, Albehira governorate, Egypt. Tools: Based on health belief model, Data was collected using five tools: 1. structured interviewing questionnaire composed of: Personal characteristics, and Food safety knowledge sheet, 2. observational checklist to assess practices related to food safety, 3. Socioeconomic scale and 4. Attitude scale of food safety at home. The study revealed that, the majority of women had low socioeconomic state. Women demonstrated low perceived susceptibility and low perceived severity for contracting foodborne diseases
