Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Nursing - Department of Nursing Services Administration Summary: Cardiac catheterization is considered the gold standard for the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of cardiac disease. The main responsibility of nurse in management of patients undergoing cardiac catheterization is to promote the patients' optimal conditions before, during, and after the procedure. Nurses can provide the best care to their patients by following the nursing standards of care. The current study aimed to assess nurses' compliance with standard of care of patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. A descriptive design was used to attain the aim of the present study. Data were collected in a period of two months from 17th January to 5th March 2013, using an observation checklist developed by thabet in 2010 by which compliance of nurses to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization was observed before, during and after catheterization. The findings revealed that the majority of the study nurses were poorly compliant to standards of pre and post catheterization and have a good compliance to standards during catheterization
